I need scriptures and poems....

So I am in the process of putting little "hope" books together for Juanito's Wish memory boxes. Well I'm getting everything ready for some young women to assemble them. Who better to ask then other mothers who have experienced this very thing.

So what I am looking for are Scripture verses or quotes that have helped you through the process. I'm trying to make them non/all-denominational, so any scripture or quote will work. I actually really want them to come from every religion!!!

What has inspired you? What verses help you through each day? I need the "perfect" verses to put in this book for other baby loss moms. I have some poems, but I really want more. I want to make this a great place for grieving families to look to for comfort and support.

  1. This poem helped me get through the first days and weeks after we lost MJ

    The Chosen Ones

I had a dream the other night.
It came to me so clear.
I stood before the throne of God,
    afraid to come too near.
God said to me, "I hear your prayers.
There are answers you can't find."
"I brought you here to talk to me and help to ease your mind."
    I said,"Well, yes, God,
I am upset...About my special one.
    This punishment is awfully harsh...
    Whatever have I done?"
God looked at me and shook his head,
He said, "My Dear, you've got it wrong.
I sent this special child to you
    because you are so strong.
I searched and searched to try and find someone with a love so rare.
    Parents so unselfish who could
    give him that special care.
I try to save my special gifts,
    like those you're speaking of,
for a special kind of parents
    I call the "Chosen Ones".
"Of all the ones to choose from,
I know I've got it done...
    Parents who deserve my best,
    An honor you have won."

  2. Below are a few things that have meaning to me or have helped me in some way or another.

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. 1 Corinthians 13:7-8

"What we have once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." -Helen Keller

    Part of Me

I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday and the day before that too.
I think of you in silence. I often say your name.
But all I have are memories and your picture in a frame.
Your memory is my keepsake, with which I'll never part.
God has you in His keeping. I have you in my heart.
I shed tears for what might have been. A million times I've cried.
If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly. In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place, no one can ever fill.
It broke my heart to lose you, but you didn't go alone.
For part of me went with you, the day God took you home.

  5. This is absolutley wonderful. i love what you are doing. Our son Elias went to be with the Lord on October 26th 2009.They are pretty sure I had a little tear that had been there from the beginning.I cramped the whole pregnancy but was to scared to tell anyone.

One thing that i remember from the hospital was a little picture that had a bunch of children and underneath it, it simply said "Children are a gift from the Lord." I was so thankful for that and it really left an impression on me.

Right now the verse i am clinging to is

"Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of JOY. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest. Psalm 126:5-6
I hope this helps and if I find something in my journal I will send it to you.

  6. I think what you are doing for your son is great.

"A life may last for just a moment but a memory can make that moment last forever"

I am going to send you angel in front of you, to guard you on the way and bring you to the place that I have prepared for you. Exodus 23:20

An angel in the book of life wrote down our bab's birth. Then whispered as she closed the book "too beautiful for earth"

I hope these help you. Take care.

  7. There are really so many but I will give you the ones that I can think of that carried me through my darkest days.

Malachi 4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

Psalms 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

    Job 29:2-5 Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me; When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness; As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle; When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;

Psalms 31:7-9 I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities; And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room. Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.

Psalms 40:17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

Psalms 55:6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.

Psalms 71:20-21 Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth. Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.

Psalms 73:25-28 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

Psalms 103:14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

Psalms 119:49-50 ZAIN. Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope. This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.

Psalms 119:71-72 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes. The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.

  9. Acceptance
    By Gwen Flowers

    It isn't letting go.
    It's going on.
    It isn't only shadows,
    And it isn't only dawn.
    It isn't getting through it,
It's letting it come through me.
    Not living in the darkness,
Though the darkness I can see.
    It's living with the sorrow
    But finding memories sweet.
It's knowing that it takes both sides
    To make it all complete.
    It's soaking up the sunshine
    Along with the rain.
    It's learning to let laughter
Live side by side with pain.
    It's knowing that the years
    Won't change a love that's real,
Or take away the joy you brought,
or the sorrow that I feel.
    It's knowing tears and laughter
Can live on the same face,
And your impression on my heart
    Can never be erased.
